Christian Durupt
Christian Durupt, a renowned French architect, significantly contributed to the architectural development of ski resorts in the French Alps. Initially, Charlotte Perriand influenced the design of Méribel in the late 1930s, but it was post-World War II when Durupt, alongside Paul Grillo and André Dutour, transformed the resort with traditional Savoyard aesthetics, creating sustainable, non-invasive wooden chalets. Durupt's collaboration with Perriand is most notable at Les Arcs, where they worked together from the 1960s to create a modernist, functional resort. Their joint efforts emphasized harmonious integration with the natural landscape, innovative design, and a human-centered approach. This partnership left a lasting impact on the architectural and design philosophy of mountain resorts in France.
