Desk by A.R.P: The A.R.P (Atelier de Recherche Plastique) was founded in 1954 by Joseph-André Motte, Michel Mortier, and Pierre Guariche with the vision of creating innovative, mass-produced furniture that was both technically advanced and aesthetically refined. This brief but influential collaboration between the three designers lasted until 1957.
This desk model showcases a sophisticated design with a black lacquered tubular metal frame, featuring a double or triple upright structure that rests on metal pads. The frame is ingeniously constructed with orthogonal cross-bracing or X-shaped folds, providing both stability and visual interest. A side cabinet with three sliding drawers adds functionality, with the top surface serving as an additional shelf. The drawer fronts are elegantly detailed with double grooves, all finished in a rich ash veneer.
