The Mug has a slightly tapering "Can" shaped form and stands on a spreading reeded foot. The lower half of the main body is decorated with raised vertical flutes. The upper section displays a horizontal girdle flanked by semi-circular motifs and an upper band of punched foliate motifs. This fine piece has a slightly everted reeded rim and a scroll reeded handle. The Mug is of a very good weight and gauge and is fully marked on the side of the main body in the patterning. Thomas Parr made very fine mugs. His first mark was entered in 1697, therefore this represents an early example of his work. He was working from premises in Wood Street when this fine piece was made.
