The Shells are modelled as raying scallop shells and stand on three winkle feet.  The carrying handle displays an applied gadrooned border and is also engraved with a double Crest, with Motto engraved on a banner above.

Both the crests and the right hand motto are those of Walrond.  The right hand crest and motto is recorded for the Walronds of Bradfield.   The left hand crest is recorded for the branch of Dulford, Devon who were Marquisses of Vallado in Spain from 1653 to 1972.  The Walronds held Bradfield from the 13th century to the 1960s.

The Shells are in excellent condition and are very well marked on the reverse.  The weight and quality is exceptional, as would be expected from the prolific firm of Emes and Barnard, who supplied Paul Storr with items when he needed to meet order deadlines.

Length: 4.5 inches, 11.25 cm.

Width: 4.45 inches, 11.13 cm.
