The Candlesticks stand on a square base which is decorated with a band of foliate spears below laurel and berry garlands tied with ribbons, above a Neo Classical floral medallion.  The cluster column shaft displays beautiful winged cherubs at the base and rises to detailed rams heads and flat fluting.  The capitals are decorated with vertical reed and tie bands and the pull off nozzles are also decorated with the same foliate spears as seen on the base.  The candlesticks have loaded bases and are in exceptionally crisp condition, having seen very little wear over the years.  They are fully marked on the base and with the sterling mark on the sleeve of the nozzles.  A similar candlestick design is illustrated on plate 58 in "Adam Silver" by Robert Rowe, and this particular piece is in the Collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.  With the very high Neo Classical design, these may well have been designed by Robert Adam himself, or his immediate circle.

Height: 12 inches, 30 cm.

Base Diameter: 6.9 inches, 17.25 cm
