The Almanac Cover is modelled as a book, the spine engraved with flowerheads and the front and reverse decorated with geometric designs on a matted ground. The centre is engraved with a contemporary mirror cipher, below a coronet and this is all contained within a raised plain frame. Once the fastening clasp is opened the silk lined interior and almanac can be seen which was printed for the Company of Stationers in 1832. Almanacs were used by the wealthy and aristocracy to remind them of monthly holidays and religious festivals. It also contained a calendar, list of Lord Mayors and Sheriffs, table of King's and Queen's of England and current coinage. This piece is in exceptional condition and is very desirable with its original almanac.
