The Lancet Case is of tapering rectangular form, with a hinged cover. The sides are engraved with tartan pattern and display a rectangular cartouche engraved with the name T.J Cooper, most probably a surgeon or doctor. The cover opens up to reveal four compartments which each contain a knife, with tortoiseshell cover. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the base. Lancet cases by Nathaniel Mills seldom appear on the market and very few were made in the first place.
