Hester Bateman. A rare George III Wine Label made in London circa 1780 by Hester Bateman

Sold

The label we refer to is modelled in the plain enclosed crescent form with the eyelets unusually soldered to the inside of the crescent.  The chain is then attached to the eyelets.  This piece is engraved with the rare title of WHITE CURRANT, a name which we had not offered before.  The label is in excellent condition and is well marked on the reverse with the maker's mark and sterling mark which enable us to date it to circa 1780 and, of course, made in London by Hester Bateman.

Width: 1.5 inches, 3.75 cm.

Length: 1.45 inches, 3.63 cm.
