The Caster stands on a spreading circular foot. The main body has a plain vase shape with reeded girdle, and is also engraved with a set of marriage initials. The pull-off domed cover terminates in a bell finial and is pierced with panels of roundels and engraved with panels of floral scrolls. The caster is in excellent condition and is fully marked in the foot and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the sleeve of the cover. Thomas Bamford was a quality silversmith who specialised in the production of casters.
