The Taperstick is cast and displays a stepped hexagonal base decorated with reeding. The circular central well rises to a baluster shaped stem, also decorated with reeded bands. The Taperstick is very well marked in the base and is also engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. It would appear that Thomas Mason specialised in the production of Candle and Tapersticks and he was apprentice to Robert Timbrell, also a candlestick maker. This piece is in excellent condition and has a very good colour.
