The Basket stands on an oval foot, with corded base, which is pierced with a band of trailing foliate scrolls and engraved with bright cut designs.  The main body has a beaded rim and is pierced with unusual scrolls as well as a  band of vertical wavy bands and roundels.  The sides also display pretty garlands engraved with bluebells in addition to finely detailed Neo Classical urns.  The centre of the bowl is engraved with a contemporary Armorial with laurel garlands above, tied with ribbons.  The beaded swing handle is pierced and engraved with an identical bands of scrolls, as seen on the foot.  The main body is very well marked and the handle displays a crisp sterling mark.  This piece is in excellent, crisp, condition.  Richard Meach made very fine pierced silver including baskets and serving slices.  He had workshops at 17, George's Court when this piece was made.
