The Mustard Pot has an oval form and is pierced with an upper and lower band of stylised foliate motifs, with raying flower heads in ovals between. The piercing is also surrounded by prick dot and bright cut engraving. The domed cover rises to a stylised urn finial and displays a bright cut border around the outer edge. The plain scroll handle is also engraved with bright cut and prick dot designs. The Mustard Pot is in excellent condition, has a blue glass liner, and is fully marked on the base. This piece is desirable as it was made at the beginning of the establishment of an assay office in Sheffield. This centre was known for producing pretty Classical pieces at this date, however Mustard Pots were not made in great quantity and to find a Sheffield example is rare.
