The Mug stands on an applied spreading circular foot which is decorated with reeded bands.  The baluster main body rises to an everted rim and the interior displays fine hammer marks from where it was raised, when it was originally made.  The scroll handle is decoarted on the top with leaf capping.  The front of the main body is beautifully engraved with a shield shaped Armorial with tied bluebell swags above and the Motto "Veritas Vincit" engraved on a drapery banner below.  The Arms are those of the Parr family of Lancashire.  The Mug is in excellent condition, is of a very good gauge and is very well marked in the foot.  William Cattell entered his first mark in February 1771 and he had workshops in Bull Head Court, Jewin Street, when this piece was made.

Height: 5 inches, 12.5 cm.

Diameter of the foot: 3.6 inches, 9cm.
