The Sauceboat stands on an oval collet foot engraved with an outer prick dot band. The main body is of a good size and has an everted prick dot rim. The upper section of the main body is also engraved with a beautiful band of foliate motifs and flower heads in ovals, all on a scratch engraved ground. The high loop handle is decorated with reeding and this piece is very well marked in the foot. Henry Chawner was a Master of decorative engraving and this piece is no exception.
