The box is modelled in the escutcheon form with an attractively shaded agate panel on both the cover and base, all surrounded by a reeded gold frame. The thumb piece is modelled as a protruding Rococo raying shell and the sides are beautifully chased with panels of floral sprays, detailed rural dwellings and shell motifs, all on a matted ground. The panels are divided by chased scroll divisions. The decoration is in excellent, crisp, condition.
