This very unusual Snuff Box is modelled in the rare "Cushion" shaped, octagonal, form. The hinged cover is unusually inset into the top of the box and displays a beautifully shaded octagonal agate panel with gold mounts. The top of the box is divided into eight panels chased with beautiful scroll designs, trellis work and flower heads and countryside scenes depicting birds in flight and swimming on a lake. The sides are chased with a band of geometric designs, pluming scrolls and exotic birds in flight. The base displays a very unusual large domed agate set in an octagonal mount and surrounded by a gold frame of geometric designs and scrolls. The box is in quite excellent condition.
