The Caster is of a very rare form and stands on a stepped spreading circular foot decorated with bold gadrooning. The baluster shaped main body is plain in design and is also decorated with a gadrooned band. The pull off cover terminates in a writhen finial and is pierced with pretty flower heads and scrolls, in addition to being engraved with linear bands. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest, of an arm in armour holding arrows. The caster is in excellent condition and is well marked in the foot and with the crowned harp and Hibernia on the sleeve of the cover. Casters are very rare from Ireland and this was originally in the same set as the Blind Mustard, now in our archive.
