This heavy die stamped wine label has an elaborately decorated border depicting a bowl and two goblets, a naked putto amongst vine leaves and grapes, and a lion peering around the end of the scrolled name plate pierced for S. CHAMPAGNE (Sillery Champagne). The label is very well marked and an excellent example of the work of Edward Farrell, who was patronised extensively by The Duke of York, son of George III and Queen Charlotte.
