Although a native Islander I started my creative career as Fashion Designer in New York. Since then I have worked as a potter, a carnival artist and a lecturer . The one common thread throughout has been a love of colour and I like putting together combinations that are perfectly balanced, whether calming or vibrant. Working in acrylics affords me the flexibility to layer glazes, texture, collage and; generally mixing up the media. I'm also enjoying a step towards a semi-abstract style.

My paintings nearly always take their inspiration from the sea and the coast, both from the Island and from my time living in South West France. I'm also very influenced by what is scattered about on the shoreline, from abandoned hulls to old fishing gear, rocks and pebbles to rope and fenders.

The studio where I work and teach from is a light-filled and quirky converted 80's mobile home in the West Wight.
