The Bougie Box is circular in form and the sides, cover and base are all made of filigree decorated on the sides with feathery scrolls.  The base displays a raying filigree flower head and the cover filigree in ovals and scrolls.  This example also has an unusual hinged harp shaped handle and an oval vacant cartouche on the front.  The cover can be removed so that the coiled wax can be placed inside.  This piece is in excellent condition and is a rare survivor from this period.
