As you will appreciate, this would have been worn by a Lady of some social rank in her hair at a special event.  The design is quite spectacular, shown on the attached images, as it is modelled as a coiled filigree serpent, with finely modelled head and tail and displaying raised beads on its body.  The serpent sits on three beaded ovals, flanked by cascading lobes, all above eight tapering comb tines.  This piece is in outstanding condition and is beautifully made.  It is also very well marked, which is amazing for a filigree piece, so we know exactly when, where and by whom, this piece was made.  These pieces are very rare and of the few which were made, very few have survived due to their fragile nature.  This piece is in excellent condition.

Length: 4.15 inches, 10.38 cm.

Width: 3.1 inches, 7.75 cm.
