A very unusual George III Basket made in London in 1791 by Henry Chawrner

This very unusual Basket stands on a square platform base with circular pedestal foot decorated with reeding. The main body is of a very unusual circular wirework form, with upper pierced frieze decorated with engraved scrolls and ovals. The front of the frieze displays an oval cartouche engraved with a contemporary Crest. The basket is in excellent condition, displays a reeded arched handle and blue glass liner. This piece is fully marked in the foot and with the sterling mark on the handle. The Crest is that as used by the Thistlewayte family.
Height to the rim: 3.9 inches, 9.75 cm.
Height to the top of the handle: 6 inches, 15 cm.
Diameter at the rim: 4.5 inches, 11.25 cm.
Weight: 8oz.
