The Mustard Pot is modelled in a drum form with a spreading reeded base and corded rim. The sides are divided into vertical panels pierced and engraved with trailing foliate scrolls and stylised flower heads. In addition the front displays a majestic pierced and engraved Stag and the sides a running dog and exotic bird in flight, designs which Francis Spilsbury was famous for. The piercing and engraving has been executed to the highest standard, which would be expected from the Spilsbury workshops. The hinged cover is engraved with an unusual contemporary Crest, surrounded by an engraved outer border of trailing foliate motifs and flower heads. This example has a leaf capped scroll handle, pretty fan shaped thumb piece and blue glass liner. The Mustard Pot is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and with the sterling mark on the underside of the cover.
Height, to the top of the thumbpiece: 3 inches.
Base Diameter: 2.5 inches.
