This vase shaped form is an unusual caster design to find from the Bateman workshops.  The caster stands on a stepped circular pedestal foot which is decorated with beading, in addition to prick dot and bright cut engraved designs.  The foot rises to a vase shaped body, with second beaded band and pretty floral garlands tied with ribbons.  The front displays a vacant navette shaped cartouche, also with ribbons above.  The incuse neck rises to a beaded rim and is also engraved with horizontal prick dot bands.  The pull-off cover is pierced with roundels and engraved trellis work.  The top terminates in a Neo Classical urn finial.  The caster is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the main body and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the sleeve of the cover.
