The Mug has a tucked in base and stands on a circular stepped foot decorated with reeding. The baluster shaped main body rises to an everted rim and the scroll handle is decorated with leaf capping. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest. This example is in excellent condition and is very well marked in the foot. Newcastle had a very good reputation for making fine drinking vessels during this period, especially in the workshops of John Langlands.
