The Vinaigrette is of a very unusual small narrow rectangular form, with rounded ends. The cover, base and sides are engraved with engine turned designs contained within a plain frame. The cover also displays a vacant rectangular cartouche and a cast floral thumb piece. The interior is finely gilded and displays a grille pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls around a central flower head in a prick dot roundel. The interior is well marked, in addition to a maker's mark on the underside of the grille. This design was peculiar to the workshops of Mills, however this is the first time we have seen an example of this size.
