An English Regency rosewood console of exceptional style
The console stands on a pair of well carved gilt bronze paw feet and grooved rosewood bun feet at the back, with the rosewood plinth inlaid with brass stringing in panel form to the front edges and flat surface of the base. The black and gold marble top is raised on rosewood columns towards the front of the plinth with decorative ormolu base and capitals with a scrolling key design. Above the marble top rests a shallow shelf supported on 2 smaller columns. The shelf is rosewood with more brass stringing and a finely pierced brass gallery on three sides. There are back plates of glass from the base plinth of the console right up to the shelf, making it an good piece for displaying objects.
