A rare Salad Bowl made in London in 1847 by John Tapley.

The Bowl was most probably for salad or vegetables and displays a deep bowl, with similar rim decorated with foliate pluming scrolls and flower heads.  The side of the dish is engraved with a contemporary Crest, this being of the Crawshay family.  John Tapley was Paul Storr’s apprentice, who had a reputation for quality pieces and supplied Rundell, Bridge & Rundell.
